Acts 29 Community (Act. 2:42~47)
The Book of Acts is still being written by the Holy Spirit, and he calls us to be witnesses now, with the gospel at the center of our lives, his power as our source, and our witness lived out right where God has placed us.
Acts 29 is still being written, and God invites us to take part
The Book of Acts ends abruptly, without a closing, as if the Holy Spirit is still writing new chapters. He worked through Peter, the seven leaders he chose, and especially Paul to extend his kingdom. Today he is looking for people to raise up and use to continue that story. Acts 29 is written by each church, each community, and each person who is willing to be used by God. We are invited to be part of that unfinished chapter.
The gospel must be at the center of our witness
Many of us know that Jesus loves us and died for us, yet we do not live as witnesses. Jesus taught his disciples that he had to suffer, die, rise from the dead, and reign at the right hand of God the Father. His death took our sins and ended their power, and his resurrection gives us victory and the hope of being raised. Romans 1:16 reminds us that the gospel is the power of God for salvation. When Jesus is the main character of our lives, we testify to how he is changing us.
Only the Holy Spirit can empower our witness
The disciples were eager to go to the ends of the earth, but Jesus told them to wait for the Holy Spirit. The Spirit lifts us above our limits, giving boldness when we are quiet or unsure what to say, and giving love for people who are hard to love. Prayer opens us to his power, and making right what is broken, including confessing sin, keeps us a clean vessel. Surrendering all to him matters, because the Spirit is a person who relates to us, not merely a power source. When we keep saying no to what he says yes to, we quench and grieve him.
Be a witness now, right where God has placed you
Witness is not just an event or a trip, but a lifestyle lived in the place God has put us. Simple steps can help: begin each day with prayer, listen and ask questions, eat together with someone who is not yet a believer, serve with small acts of love, and share how Jesus met you. A taxi ride or a short drive can become an opening to speak of Christ. Even when we are not sure what to say, God can use one honest conversation to share the greatest gift, eternal life in Jesus Christ.
Apply to Life
- Let us begin each day with prayer, asking God to use us wherever we are.
- Let us listen well and ask questions, so that others can share their struggles and be prayed for.
- Let us eat together with someone who does not yet know Christ this week.
- Let us look for simple ways to serve, and share how Jesus has changed our lives when God opens the door.
